GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Scales and polishes teeth. Takes oral x-rays. Does chair-side assisting. Administers oral hygiene program. Explains preventive dentistry. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Successful completion of training program in a school of dental hygiene that is accredited by the Council on Dental Education of the American Dental Association. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Schedule of examinations are determined by Southern Regional Testing, Inc., Central Regional Board, Northeast Regional Board, or the Western Regional Board who administers the testing. Written National Boards are required. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Must be of good moral character. License are renewed biennially, by December 31. Initial licensure fee is $35.00 with annual renewal license fee being $35.00. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) Fifteen (15) annually, ten (10) of which must be scientific based. Must have HIV course annually and CPR biennially. Must have verification of attendance. Proof is required in the event of audit. SPECIAL COMMENTS OR CONDITIONS Credentials licensure available if candidate has practiced for three (3) to five (5) years prior to making application.
