License: Land Surveyor

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Determines the location of land boundaries and incidental topography. Prepares maps showing the shape and area of tracts of land and their subdivision into smaller tracts, including the placement of roads, easements, utilities, etc. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Contact the regulatory agency for applications. Examinations given in April and October. National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying examination is given, cut-off scores are accepted. Should you fail, contact the regulatory agency. Examination fee is $120.00; registration fee is $10.00; application fee is $30.00. Biennial renewal fee is $90.00. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION There are no age, residency or health requirements. Must have eight (8) years work experience for non-baccalaureate degree holders. Those who do possess the baccalaureate degree must have four (4) years work experience. Kentucky has reciprocity with all states. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) Eight (8) contact hours (50 minute hour) required each year before license can be renewed. Two (2) hours of Ethics and two (2) hours of minimum standards required during a four (4) year period which is included in the eight (8) hour requirement.
