GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Person or organization who installs, repairs, closes or removes an underground petroleum storage tank for an owner or operator. The non-refundable application fee is $150.00. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS An applicant requesting installer/remover contractor certification shall demonstrate experience in installation of three (3) underground petroleum storage tanks and three (3) removals of same. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Each applicant for certified contractor shall take and pass a written examination administered by the State Fire Marshal's office. Examination fee is $25.00. SPECIAL COMMENTS or CONDITIONS Applicant requesting certification as an underground storage tank contractor must show financial capability through proof of insurance. Minimum $500,000 general liability insurance and a minimum $25,000 pollution liability required. Yearly renewal necessary. No re-examination required unless failed to renew for over one (1) year. Also available "tank liner only" certification and a "cathodic protection only" certification.
