License: General Certified Radiation Operator (Diagnostic X-Ray)

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Performs all diagnostic radiographic procedures. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. equivalency, PLUS satisfactorily complete twenty-four (24) months of study in medical, osteopathic, or chiropractic radiography approved by the regulatory agency. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Applications must be made at least sixty (60) days prior to examination with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, which is scheduled the third (3rd) Thursday in the months of March, July and October. Type examination; multiple choice. Must have a scaled score of 75%. Should you fail, contact the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists at (612) 687-0048. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION You must be least eighteen (18) years of age. There are no health or residency requirements. You must be honest, trustworthy and of good reputation. There are no work experience requirements. Initial certificate and registration fee is $60.00. Certificates must be renewed every two (2) years from date of issuance with a renewal fee of $35.00. CONTINUING EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) You must obtain eighteen (18) clock hours of continuing education during each twenty-four (24) month period that the certificate is valid.
