<h3>Occupational Description</h3><br>An Esthetician Instructor is a person licensed under the Nebraska Cosmetology Act to teach any or all of the practices of esthetics in a school of cosmetology or a school of esthetics. Esthetics is the practice of using, for compensation, an electrical or mechanical apparatus or appliance, or applying and using cosmetic preparations, antiseptics, chemicals, tonics, lotions, creams, or other similar products, upon the skin for personal beauty care.<br><h3>Licensure Requirements</h3><br>Applicants must:1. Have attained the age of 17 years on or before the beginning date of the examination for which application is being made;2. Have completed formal education equivalent to a United States high school education;3. Possess a minimum competency in the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the practices for which licensure is sought, as evidenced by successful completion of an examination in the appropriate practices approved by the Board and administered by the department; 4. Possess sufficient ability to read the English language to permit the applicant to practice in a safe manner, as evidenced by successful completion of the written examination;5. Have graduated from a school of cosmetology or an apprentice salon in or outside of Nebraska or a school of esthetics in or outside of Nebraska. The program of studies must consist of a minimum of 300 hours beyond the program of studies required for licensure as an esthetician;6. Be currently licensed as an esthetician in Nebraska, as evidenced by possession of a validNebraska esthetics license;7. Be a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted into the United States who is eligible for a credential under the Uniform Credentialing Act, or a nonimmigrant whose visa for entry, or application for visa for entry, is related to such employment in the United States. Applicants for a Nebraska license who received their training in a foreign country must meet the following requirements:1. Must be at least 17 years old and lawfully present in the United States.2. Must have graduated from High School or have a GED. 3. Hold a current license or equivalent official recognition of the right to practice in a foreign country; or at least 5 years of practice within the 8 years immediately prior to the application.4. Must take and pass the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC) examination for instructors.<br><h3>Fees</h3><br>Initial License- $50.00<br><h3>Renewal</h3><br>Renewal is due biennially by September 30 of even-numbered years. The renewal fee is $50.00.
