Applicants must: 1) Hold a bachelor's or master's degree in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) (official transcripts required). 2) Pass the national (ASWB) examination at the bachelor's or master's level. 3) Be at least 21 years of age. 4) Submit fingerprints for a background check. Note: If an applicant holds a master's degree in social work, the applicant will be given an option to take either the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) master's or the ASWB bachelor's examination to satisfy the examination requirement for the SOCIAL WORKER level. (Traditionally, the master's examination in other states has been used for applicants who hold a master's degree with little or no experience.) The applicant will need to show proof of the ASWB master's examination if planning on applying for an internship in Nevada to complete hours for the CLINICAL or INDEPENDENT license. A three-year provisional Social Worker license may be obtained by individuals who already hold a bachelor's or master's degree in a related field that contains social work curriculum and are enrolled in a program leading to a bachelor's degree or master's degree in social work that is accredited by CSWE. A three-month provisional license is available for individuals meeting the eligibility requirements for the next scheduled ASWB examination. Provisional licenses may not be renewed. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: application--$40; initial license--$100; annual license renewal--$100; examination--$230 (payable to ASWB); license by endorsement (no exam required)--$100; 3-year provisional license--$75; annual 3-year provisional license renewal--$100; 3-month provisional license (no renewal)--$75; fingerprints - $38.25.
