Applicants must: 1) Be at least 18 years old and be of good moral character. 2) Have graduated from high school and completed 2 academic years of instruction (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) at an accredited college or university (Note - credits earned at an embalming college or school of mortuary science do not fulfill the 60 university/college credit requirement). 3) Complete a 12-month program at an accredited embalming college or school of mortuary science. 4) Complete 1 year of practical experience under the supervision of a licensed embalmer with proof of having embalmed at least 50 bodies (see Apprentice information below). 5) Pass 2 examinations (one for embalming and one on the applicable Nevada laws). Requirements for Apprentice Embalmer certificate of registration: 1) Be at least 18 years old and of good moral character. 2) Have graduated from high school and completed 2 academic years of instruction (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) at an accredited college or university (note - credits earned at an embalming college or school of mortuary science do not fulfill the 60 university/college credit requirement). 3) Provide verification of the apprenticeship. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: initial license/application--$375; examination--$375 per exam; apprentice embalmer--$375; license renewal--$200 every two years.
