License: Athletic Trainer

<p>Working under the direction of a physician licensed in any state or in Canada, an Athletic Trainer may evaluate the physical condition of and advise and treat athletes. Help athletes maintain physical fitness for participation in organized or recreational sports. Assess individual athletes and prescribe routine and corrective exercises to strengthen muscles and prevent injuries. Render acute care to injured participants. Wrap athletes' fingers, wrists, ankles, etc., as needed to support muscles and ligaments. Educate and counsel athletic programs.</p> <p><strong>Legislation:</strong> NH RSA 326-G and 328-F; Administrative Rules Chapter Ahp 100-300 and Ath 100-500</p> <p><strong>Licensure Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>An academic degree which is at least a Bachelor's degree</li> <li>Military experience shall not be considered when determining whether an applicant meets the requirements for licensure</li> <li>Good professional character and reliability</li> <li>Successfully complete the certification examination administered by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOCATC)</li> </ul> <p><strong>Examination:</strong> National written examination required</p> <p><strong>Continuing Education:</strong> Continued BOCATC certification, requiring 75 hours of medically related continuing education credits every three years and adherence to a code of ethics</p> <p><strong>Fees:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Application: $60</li> <li>Initial licensure fee: $110</li> <li>Biennial renewal: $110</li> <li>License reinstatement: $220</li></ul> <ul>Licenses expire on December 31 of each even-numbered year</ul> <p><strong>Reciprocity:</strong> Not permitted</p> <p>revised Jan 2018</p>
