This license, or one of the other for-hire licenses, is required to conduct a for-hire fishing operation in coastal waters. The Blanket Captains license allows an individual who is properly license by the US Coast Guard to operate any for-hire vessel as long as that vessel also has a for-hire vessel license or for-hire endorsement on the Commercial Fishing Vessel Registration.
