A Pyrotechnic Licensed Operator is responsible for the safety, setup and discharge of professional display fireworks that utilize pyrotechnic materials that are Federally Regulated and require an Alcohol Tobacco And Explosives (BATFE) license to purchase. A 1.3 g Pyrotechnic Licensed Operator is responsible for the supervision of personnel at the pyrotechnic display. A 1.4 Pyrotechnic Licensed Operator is responsible for the safety, setup and discharge of lower grade fireworks (consumer fireworks) that utilize pyrotechnic materials that are legal in neighboring states but not legal in North Carolina but are not Federally regulated. A 1.4 g Pyrotechnic Licensed Operator does not requires BATFE license to purchase.
