MEDICAL SURGICAL ASSISTANT REGISTRY<br><br>Medical Surgical assistants work in operating rooms assisting surgeons by preparing the necessary equipment, helping position and draping patients, providing needed instruments during the operation and keeping the area sterile. Surgical assistants usually have prior medical training, along with formal training in the surgical assisting discipline.<br><br>REQUIREMENTS:<br> In order to qualify for registration, you must qualify under one of the following pathways (certification, training, or experience).<br><br> EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: <br>Candidates for a surgical assisting certificate may enroll in an undergraduate or graduate level program depending on prior education completed. Common courses include anesthetics and anesthesia methods, surgical complications, clinical computer applications, medical ethics and operating room procedures.
