TN CERTIFIED INSPECTORS<br><br>Inspect residential and commercial buildings for adherence to fire, building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing codes.<br><br>EDUCATION:<br>Successfully complete a recognized and accepted training course provided by professional building codes organizations identified in Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 0780-02-16-.04, and/or an examination approved and recognized by the State Fire Marshal, or designee, which tests knowledge and skills in the specialty or specialties in which the applicant seeks certification.<br><br> EXAMINATION AND CERTIFICATION: <br>Certification from the following professional building codes organizations provides the appropriate level of standards and qualifications necessary for certification: (a) International Code Council (ICC); (b) National Fire Protection Association (N.F.P.A.); (c) Other appropriate professional building and fire code organizations recognized by the State Fire Marshal, or designee, OR (d) Successful completion of an equivalent examination administered at the discretion of the State Fire Marshal, or designee for electrical inspectors, certification is needed from a nationally recognized code organization (e.g., International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI)), or the International Code Council (ICC) . Military education and training can be accepted for certification.<br><br>CONTINUING EDUCATION: <br>36 hours, take examination, complete next level of certification.<br>RENEWAL: Every 3 years.
