Dental hygienists are a part of the dental health team. They work under the supervision of a licensed dentist and duties may include cleaning and polishing teeth, taking X-rays, tending sutures, performing fluoride treatments, and applying pit and fissure sealant. Dental hygienists also instruct patients on proper oral health care and preventive dentistry.
