With appropriate supervision, a licensed veterinary technician (LVT) may perform various tasks delegated to the LVT by a Texas-licensed veterinarian. An LVT may also supervise tasks assigned to unlicensed employees of the Texas-licensed veterinarian. Texas-licensed LVTs may only perform supervised, assigned tasks on animals for which the Texas-licensed veterinarian has established a client-patient-veterinarian relationship. A licensed veterinary technician may also work in a teaching capacity at an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program, or as part of a government health program.
