A candidate pursuing the IBM PowerVC V2.0 Administrator Specialty has knowledge and experience planning, installing, configuring, and managing virtualization on POWER, and a good understanding of various VM deployment methods. An understanding of the internal components of the software solution and the hardware architecture around it is also important. They should have basic POWER operating system knowledge, and a good understanding of storage and network infrastructures. They should have knowledge of PowerVM capabilities such as Live Partition Mobility (LPM). Key areas of competency:
- Plan, install, configure, and manage virtualization on POWER.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues in a deployment at the various levels of the solution: VM, OS, server, storage, and networking.
- Tune or customize the solution to achieve desired behavior, including VM, OS, or server.
