Certification: Signal Person Assessment

The purpose of this assessment is to determine the
proficiency level for a Signal Person who is proficient in
the performance of hand and verbal signals. This person
ideally holds a crane certification, and this is an
additional certification to demonstrate their skills. Their
comprehensive knowledge base encompasses:
Hand signals as required by ASME B30.2, ASME
B30.3, ASME B30.5, and ASME B30.6
Specific knowledge of crane operations
Basic understanding of equipment operation and
limitations, including the crane dynamics involved in
side loading, swinging and stopping loads, and boom
deflection from hoisting loads.
Know and understand the relevant requirements of
OSHA 1926.1419 through 1926.1422 and 1926.1428.
