Apprentice Plumbers are persons, other than journeyman plumbers or master plumbers, who are engaged in learning and assisting in the installation of plumbing drainage and natural gas. Under the supervision of a licensed plumber, apprentice plumbers install, alter, or repair pipe systems conducting liquids or gases such as water, steam, wastewater, natural gas or air. They install plumbing fixtures, appliances, gas appliances, and waste disposal systems. On a job, apprentice plumbers size, cut, thread, and bend pipes to exact specifications, and join the pipes using code approved methods. They must select the type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications. In the performance of their duties, they learn how to inspect and test for leaks in the system. Requirements: Must have a signed training agreement from an employer who is, or who employs, a licensed master plumber and must be enrolled in a state accredited plumbing apprenticeship training program. License fee: $25.00, Renewal fee: $25.00 per year.
