An Alarm Agent is employed by an alarm company operator to sell (at the buyer's home or business), install, monitor, maintain, service, or respond to alarm systems or to supervise such actions. Requirements: o Be 18 or older. o Undergo a criminal history background check through the DOJ and the FBI. o Completion of the 4-hour Power to Arrest and the Appropriate Use of Force training course if alarm agent responds to alarm systems. Please see BPC Section 7598.1 for additional clarifications. o Have committed no offense or violation of the Alarm Company Act that would be grounds for license suspension or revocation. “Power to Arrest” training is obtainable from a Bureau approved training facility or trainer. Application Fee - $55 DOJ Fingerprint Processing Fee - $32 FBI Fingerprint Processing Fee - $17 Renewal Fee - $40 Delinquency Renewal ($40 renewal fee + $25 delinquency fee) - $65 A temporary registration is issued allowing applicants to work as an Alarm Agent for 120 days if they have not been convicted of a crime. The initial license is valid for 2 years. Each renewal cycle extends the registration for an additional 2 years. Average time to process an application is 60 days.
