Electrical and low voltage system contractors are responsible for installing, maintaining, altering, or repairing electrical systems. Electricians under their direction inspect and service electronic control devices, follow blueprints, bend and fasten tubing inside walls, and pull wires through the tubing to complete the circuits between outlets and switches. They connect the wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components. Low voltage contracting involves the installation, alteration, service, or repair of a telecommunication system, alarm system, or general system involving low-voltage wiring.
