DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Contractor makes and carries out agreements to alter any realty, or to construct, alter, move, wreck, or demolish any building, highway, or other structure, project, development, or improvement. They may estimate the costs of material, labor, equipment and subcontract work needed to complete the job in the form of a bid to the owner. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Personal requirements: Be not less than 18 years of age. Have a good reputation for honesty, truthfulness, financial integrity, and fair dealing. Professional requirements: If a corporation, partnership, joint venture, LLC or LLP, have liability and worker's compensation insurance and have in your employ a licensed individual who is designated Responsible Managing Employee (RME). If a RME, be employed by a licensed contracting entity. Experience requirements: Have 4 years of supervisory experience within the past 10 years if a sole proprietor or responsible managing employee. EXAMINATIONS: Exam in the appropriate classification. FEES: $50 for application. For entities: $355 for 2-year license, $150 for recovery fund, $10 for education fund, and $148 for biennial compliance resolution fund; license renewal every 2 years is $190.
