Specialty electricians must be licensed in Idaho and are only allowed to work in their area of specialization. Specialty licenses are available in the areas of: Elevator; Sign; Manufacturing/Assembling; Limited Energy; Irrigation Sprinkler; Well Driller/Pump Installer; Refrigeration, Heating & Air Conditioning; Outside Wireman (Lineman); and Photovoltaic (Solar) Installer. Electrical Specialty Trainees must: 1.) Be at least 16 years of age; 2.) Submit an application with required documents, and fees; 3.) Be employed by a licensed electrical specialty contractor; 4.) Work under the constant supervision of a licensed Electrical Specialty Journeyman; Term: Licenses are valid for three (3) years for specialty apprentices.
