<h3>Occupational Description</h3><br>Insurance Producers are appointed by an insurer to solicit applications for a policy of insurance or to negotiate a policy on the insurer’s behalf. The Insurance Producer license replaces the titles of “Insurance Broker” and “Insurance Sales Agent.”<br><h3>Licensure Requirements</h3><br>Applicants must: 1. Be at least 18 years of age; 2. be competent, trustworthy, and financially responsible, and have a good personal and business reputation; 3. Maintain his or her principal place of residence in Nebraska; 4. Pass a written examination to determine competence to act as a licensed producer in those lines of insurance for which such applicant desires to become licensed. Available Lines of Insurance- A producer may become licensed to write one or more of the following lines of insurance: Casualty Property Property & Casualty Personal Lines Life Insurance & Annuities Variable Contracts Sickness, Accident, & Health Title Crop/Hail Surety Funeral Miscellaneous Prepaid Legal Credit Travel<br><h3>Fees</h3><br>License Fee- $50.00<br><h3>Renewal</h3><br>Licenses expire on the last day of the Producer’s birth month in the first year after issuance in which his or her age is divisible by two. Licenses may be renewed beginning 90 days before their expiration dates. The renewal fee is $50.00. Late renewals incur an additional late fee. The fee for a late renewal for a license expired for 30 days or less is $40.00; licenses that have been expired for more than 30 days, but less than a year, must submit a new application and pay a $90.00 late fee. Twenty-four hours of continuing education are required to qualify for renewal, of which three hours must be in the area of insurance-related ethics.
