Applicants must have completed 1,200 hours in a school of cosmetology program approved by the State Board; completed school through at least the 10th grade or the equivalent; be at least 18 years old; and pass the written and practical exams. If you are transferring from another state, you must have a current license in good standing, and you must prove that you have passed the national exam or you must take the written exam in Nevada. Hair Braider Applicants must have at least one year work experience practicing hair braiding in Nevada on a person who is related (within sixth degree of consanguinity) without a license and without charging a fee; be at least 18 years old; and pass the written and practical exams. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: application--$15; examination, written and practical--$110; examination, national written --$110; 2-year license--$70; 4-year license renewal--$140.
