ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSE<BR><BR>An Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a Tennessee licensed registered nurse who has a master's degree or higher in a nursing specialty and has national specialty certification as a nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist, nurse midwife, or clinical nurse specialist. <br><br>EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: <br>Master's Degree or higher in one of the four advanced practice nursing roles/categories: Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Anesthetist, Nurse Midwife, and Nurse Practitioner. <br><br>RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS:<br>Every two years, current national specialty certification, RN license and maintains competency requirements. http://www.state.tn.us/sos/rules/1000/1000-04.pdf
