License: WELL DRILLER, Groundwater

A license is necessary for drilling drinking water wells. Drinking water wells can be for industrial, municipal, or private residential use. A license is currently not required to construct monitoring wells or non-potable wells. Prerequisites: Must submit a record of complying potable drilling experience, complete an exam, and be approved by Department of Natural Resources (DNR) staff. Exams are offered at a different DNR station the first Wednesday of even numbered months. Required Documentation: Record of drilling experience including well owner name, Wisconsin Unique Well Number (WUWN), property location, county, completion date, activity & hours supervisor was on site.
