MEDICAL ASSISTANTS 31-9092 Entry Salary $15.93/hr Average Salary $19.86/hr Job Description Podiatric assistants perform x-rays for podiatrists in podiatry offices. Requirements 1. Successfully pass the ASPMA examination OR 2. Intern with a Podiatrist for training which shall consist of not less than twenty (20) hours of educational instruction or supervised training in the following areas: Podiatric nomenclature; machine operation exposure factor; operator and patient safety; AND practical or clinical experience in the following: foot and ankle techniques for exposing radiographs; film handling and storage, if applicable; processing procedures; and patient record documentation for radiographs. Continuing Education There are currently no continuing education requirements for podiatric assistants Restrictions Certified podiatry assistant duties are limited to performing x-ray duties for podiatrists. Schools located in Wyoming There are no schools in Wyoming that offer podiatry assistant programs. License Certified podiatry assistants must have a certificate from the Wyoming Board of Podiatry to work in Wyoming. A certificate will remain valid without needing to be renewed as long as the certificate holder remains employed with the same podiatrist. Upon termination of employment with a podiatrist, the certificate holder may return the certificate to the Board office and a new certificate for the certificate holders current employer will be issued upon payment of transfer fee.
